Dean’s focus is ensuring strong portfolio quality by leading the setting of capital deployment, investment criteria and exposure limits pursuant to established risk appetite parameters. In addition, he provides guidance with regards to structuring and adjudicating loan submissions and provides regular updates on credit metrics, business and/or market developments.
Dean began his career with ABN AMRO’s investment bank in Amsterdam and later New York. He has spent the last 10 years at BMO Bank of Montreal in a variety of senior commercial banking and credit risk management roles, including Vice President Credit Risk Management for Western Canada, in which role he also oversaw the integration of credit review and approval processes of a large bank acquisition in the United States. Most recently, he served as Regional Vice President Commercial Banking, responsible for a $7 billion portfolio.
Dean earned a Bachelor of Science in 1996 from the University of British Columbia; and an MBA in 1999 from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is also a Board Member for the BC Cancer Foundation.
