Management Team

Morley Greene

President and CEO

Morley’s background in structuring large property acquisitions and mortgage transactions for lenders and borrowers led him to found Trez Capital in 1997. He remains actively involved in the firm, providing management strategy and building long-term client relationships. Prior to founding Trez Capital, Morley practiced law for 32 years, specializing in tax and transaction work in the mortgage and real estate industry. Morley served with several prestigious law firms, most recently Owen Bird of Vancouver, BC.

Morley graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 1965 and was called to the bars of the provinces of Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. 

Robert Perkins

Partner & Executive Vice President

Robert directs the sourcing, underwriting and negotiation of new mortgage transactions at Trez Capital. He has over 25 years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry. Prior to joining Trez Capital in 2000, Robert was a principal of Montrose Realty Corporation for 14 years and served as a financial analyst with the Hong Kong Bank of Canada. Robert has structured and placed more than $900 million in commercial real estate mortgages during his career.

Robert holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with majors in finance and urban land economics from the University of British Columbia.

Alexander (Sandy) Manson

Partner & Chief Financial Officer

Sandy manages all financial and administrative operations of the company. He joined Trez Capital in 2006, bringing 28 years of experience in financial structuring, strategic planning and business management. He served as Chief Financial Officer with Autostock, an automobile glass replacement company from 2001 to 2005 and with Coast Mountain Hardwoods from 1997 to 2000.

Sandy graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelors of Commerce degree in accounting and marketing, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.

Michael Nisker

Partner & Senior Vice President

Michael is based in our Toronto office where he spearheads efforts to expand our loan portfolio and investor base throughout Eastern Canada. One of Canada’s best known non-bank real estate financiers, Michael has over 15 years of ownership and leadership experience. He founded Equivest Capital Group in 1994, one of the first mezzanine lending firms in Canada to focus exclusively on real estate. That company earned a reputation for its integrity and ability to generate robust returns to investors – which exceeded 30% over a 12 year period. Michael was later named Managing Director of Fortress Investment Group of New York, where he was responsible for building its lending platform in Canada.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Windsor.

Ken Lai

Partner & Vice President Loan Administration

Ken is responsible for all aspects of loan administration, including liaising with the senior staff in underwriting and funding new mortgages. Prior to joining Trez in 2002, Ken gained over 25 years of management and senior financial experience with real estate and industrial companies operating in Vancouver and Asia.

Ken holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Accountant.

Originators

Richard Sirola

Vice President Lending

Richard joined Trez Capital shortly after its inception in 1997. His responsibilities include sourcing, negotiating, underwriting, due diligence and funding of mortgages. Prior to joining Trez, Richard held managerial positions with several major commercial lenders. Over the span of Richard’s career, he has underwritten, structured and funded over $2 billion of residential and commercial mortgages.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in urban land economics and finance from the University of British Columbia. He is presently a director and past Chair of the Real Estate Institute of B.C (Vancouver Chapter).

Barry Brovender

Vice President Lending

Barry has over 30 years of experience in the commercial and residential real estate industry. His responsibilities at Trez Capital include sourcing, underwriting and negotiating new mortgage transactions. Barry previously served as vice president for a private company with an emphasis on real estate investment.

Barry holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics from the University of Calgary. He is also a member of the Society of Management Accountants of British Columbia.

Bruce Roy

Vice President Lending

Bruce brings over 25 years of commercial real estate experience to the company. Prior to joining Trez, Bruce served as Vice President of Wood Gundy Mortgage Corporation, Director and Vice President of Operations at Focus National Mortgage Corporation and Vice President of MCAP Financial Corporation.

Bruce holds a bachelors degree in urban geography and environment from the University of Toronto.

Chris Enns

Vice President Lending

Chris joined Trez Capital in 2009 and is responsible for all aspects of new mortgage transactions. Previously, Chris was a Senior Manager in Royal Bank’s Commercial Real Estate Group, where he directed a profitable portfolio of clients with lending requirements of $3 million to $50 million. Chris has written more than $400 million in mortgage transactions during his career.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a Diploma of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Noah Mintz

Vice President Lending

Working out of Toronto office, Noah sources, underwrites and negotiates new mortgage transactions with a specific focus on the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa and Montreal.

Prior to joining Trez in 2010, Noah served as a Director of Real Estate Finance with Counsel Corporation. Noah previously worked with The Rose Corporation where he originated, structured and managed commercial and residential mortgages and joint ventures across Canada and the United States. Noah also gained valuable experience in development financing with the Canderel Group of Companies in Montreal and Toronto.

Noah holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Institutional Investments

Mario Abreu

Vice President, Institutional Investments

With extensive experience in all real estate asset classes, Mario manages our institutional investments in Ontario. Prior to joining Trez, he was responsible for the management of the OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) residential and industrial real estate investment program. He also served as Vice President of Real Estate for Blackwood Partners Inc., where he was responsible for the origination, implementation and management of a $100-million, closed-end real estate fund designed for Canadian pension funds.

Mario holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from Ryerson University in Toronto, with a specialization in finance and economics.
